GLOBAL FOOTPRINT MAP

Begin Your Reading Journey
Theme for January-June 2024: Climate Crisis
Climate change has significantly worsened the lives of hundreds of millions of people — through the risks of drought, floods, extreme heat and poverty. And it does not show up merely as an environmental problem for the most disproportionately affected communities in the global south — but as a complex social justice problem, placing populations that are particularly vulnerable to its impacts at the center of the problem. Through this six-month reading journey, we will explore fiction, graphic novels, non-fiction, essays, poems and art from an intersectional feminist approach. These elements will cover the intersection of climate issues with patriarchy or capitalism, effects of rapid urbanization, indigenous communities and their struggles, and some lovely poignant tales of our natural world. We aim to create a space for those who are excited to challenge their biases, explore what feminism means and learn from others.

TESTIMONIAL
A highlight of my 2024 was getting involved with the “Sanskaari Girls” of SGBC. Month after month we drew conversations based on the books and our experience, but did so much more than just read! We discovered a public cove next to some chatty geese, we found common ground over freshly baked cookies, we exchanged flowers and pretty stones (!!), and re-established our connection with nature. It’s by far the best curation of books, prompts, and participants in India, and I can’t wait to see what the club get up to next!
